Yay for the Wooden Boat Show!

We had a BLAST Saturday at the annual Wooden Boat Show in Georgetown, SC. For those of you in the area that have never been, I highly recommend it. It’s great! They close down Front Street, have live music at both ends, and all of the exhibitors set up in between. There are all different types of boats on display… and let me tell you, these are some seriously talented people. Some have built the boats from the ground (er water) up and some have restored them to their former glory, but they all have one thing in common: hours and hours of meticulous work have gone into making the boats the absolutely unique vessels that they are. There are also boats (ok, HUGE boats, yachts) in the water and you can climb aboard and take a look if you please. There is a boatbuilding contest and also an area where kids can build their own boats and test them out in the water. Fun stuff!

Needless to say, we had a fantastic time. We took Jackson last year, but he was only about a month old. This year, he really had fun. “Boat” is one of the few words that he says that we can actually understand, and I bet he said “boat” a thousand times.  He danced to the music (to the amusement of the crowd), and had gumbo for the first time (he LOVED it). We can’t wait to go back next year.
