Our good friends, John & Amy, recently came to visit us before they make their big move to Hawaii (really… we’re not jealous AT ALL). They were able to fit in plenty of lounging at the beach, a few rounds of mini-golf, and lots of playtime with Jackson. We are so glad that we were able to spend such precious time with them before they go. (In true form, most of the pictures we have from our time with them are of Jackson.)
It’s hard to believe that on August 16th it was one whole year since Jackson came into the world. We have treasured every moment of this past year and can’t wait to see what the future holds for us as a family. Jackson has brought so much joy into our lives.
The Sunday morning after Jackson’s party we were able to spend some quality time with ALL of Jackson’s grandparents at one time. That is luxury that we have never had with everyone living so far apart. We had a great time with everyone.
Jackson’s “Very Hungry Caterpillar” birthday party was on Saturday the 14th. We planned on having it at the part, but it just so happened that it rained that day, so we moved the party to a room at our church. We had a great time and Jackson had fun with all of his friends and family there. I wondered how he would go about digging into his cake and it was fun to watch him decide what to do. I would say the way that he approached the cake pretty much matched his personality. He was not scared to dig in, but he didn’t feel the need to completely go nuts, either. I approve :)
Jackson is really big into doing things like Mommy and Daddy lately. Talking on the telephone is one of those things. He pushes the buttons (sometimes calling a stranger… like the woman he called the other day), holds it up to his ear, and talks. He says, “hi,” in this really high pitched voice. I couldn’t figure out what he was doing and then it dawned on me… he’s imitating me! I can’t wait to hear what comes out of his mouth that sounds like me when he really starts talking!
