Cubs Game #2

We packed out bags and headed off to Chicago very early Friday morning. After checking into the hotel, we left Jackson with his Grandma Shirley and hopped on the train for Wrigley… well, actually the train and then the bus, but whatever. The game was so much fun and so ridiculously hot. We sat in the little corner beside of the foul pole in left field a few rows up. They were great seats. Every seat in Wrigley is great, but these were really great. The Cubs won. We went back to the hotel, ordered Giordano’s pizza (nom, nom, nom), and called it a day. Saturday, we had to say goodbye and fly back to SC. We had an absolutely wonderful visit and could not have asked for a more perfect week.

Thursday

We pretty much hung out in Reynolds on Thursday. Jason’s Aunt Linda came over for a while in the morning. It was great to see her. She was really surprised at how much Jackson had grown since Christmas. We took Jackson, Carson, and Drew to have their pictures made together. There were some really good ones… can’t wait to see them! The Fuhrs came over Thursday night after dinner and we had a nice visit with them. Kiersten and Holli are growing up so fast and they are very excited about the new brother or sister they will have in December.

Cubs Game #1

Wednesday morning, we hopped on a bus and headed for Chicago. It was really special being at Carson and Drew’s first game at Wrigley. It was a perfect day, well…. Except for the Cubs losing in extra innings and the crazy lady at Micky D’s (those of you who were there know exactly what I mean). The boys were even able to run the bases after the game. We’re not sure of the age limit on “kids run the bases after the game,” but we are pretty sure that the shirtless guy must be the biggest kid in his grade.

Risky's

Tuesday night, Jason scored a gig at Risky’s, a hotspot for the who’s who of Reynolds, IL. He was fantastically entertaining (as usual) and it was awesome seeing everyone come out to support their home town boy.

Happy Joe's Pizza and John Deere

On Monday, we had lunch at Happy Joe’s Pizza (Jason’s favorite and a must-hit eatery when we are back in Reynolds). The food was delicious, the company even better, and Jason was able to hit the arcade with the boys. Check out all of the tickets they won! They were able to get lots of cool stuff and even had a few tickets in the budget for a cool baseball fan (which came in very handy at the sweltering Cubs game on Friday… more on that later).

After lunch, we headed over to the John Deere display floor. Shirley and Tonya both work for Deere, so we are big supporters of the green and yellow. We also visited the John Deere Pavilion in downtown Moline and hit up a few other shops in the area.

These pictures are so funny to me! Jackson’s nap was disrupted, so he wasn’t exactly game for all of the picture posing we were asking of him.

Eventually, we were able to get him to cooperate… pay no attention to the Cubs hat behind (above) the curtain.
